Magic knock off Celtics, force Game 6

The Orlando Magic carried momentum into Game 5 for a resounding, 113-92 victory over the Boston Celtics.

There was a sense of urgency and an intensity from the Orlando Magic rarely seen so far in the series.

The Magic did an excellent job of using Jameer Nelson and Dwight Howard in the pick-and-roll game and then finding open shooters.

Orlando also wasn’t afraid to bang around the Celtics, who looked like a bunch of tired veterans.

The team’s second straight win sends the series back to Boston for Game 6. Game 7 would be played in Orlando should the Magic win again.

Magic stay alive with win in Boston

The Orlando Magic avoided an embarassing sweep with an overtime victory against the Boston Celtics.

The 96-92 win means the series will now shift back to Orlando for Game 5, prolonging in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Magic were embarassed by their Game 3 performance and determined to make amends in Game 4.

It wasn’t the prettiest or even most determined effort from the Magic at times, but they got the job done.

Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson and J.J. Redick all came up big for Orlando, which hopes to return to Boston for Game 6.

Magic on the brink after embarrassing Game 3 loss

The Orlando Magic are on the verge of seeing its season end in embarrassing fashion.

Embarrassing is the only way to describe its performance in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Orlando scored a pathetic 71 points on Saturday, getting blown out by the host Boston Celtics, 94-71. The Magic scored just 12 points in the first quarter to fall behind by 15, and the game didn’t get any closer from there. The Magic put on a similar performance in the third quarter, scoring 13 points.

For the game, Orlando shot under 37 percent, and the NBA’s best 3-point shooting team in the regular season went 8-f0r-30 beyond the arc. The team also committed 17 turnovers while forcing eight.

Dwight Howard continued his Jeckyl-and-Hyde ways this postseason, following up a 30-point effort in Game 2 with seven points and seven rebounds. Rashard Lewis has been far more consistent: consistently bad. He scored four points on the night.

Magic falls again to Celtics, 95-92

The Orlando Magic kept it close until the end this time but came up short again in a 95-92 loss to the Boston Celtics.

The loss drops the Magic behind the Celtics 2-0 in the series as it shifts back to Boston for Games 3 and 4.

It’s been a hard dose of reality for the Magic after they were able to sweep away their opponents in their first two playoff series.

The Celtics have come in hot and with a defensive strategy that has given the Magic fits.

With the Celtics guarding Dwight Howard with just one player, it’s up to the center to beat his defender and consistently score if the Magic have any hopes of getting back in the series.

Magic sweep away Hawks

The Orlando Magic continued their dominance of the Atlanta Hawks and wrapped up their sweep in a 98-84 victory.

It was the smallest margin of victory for the Magic in the series, which is to say it was not the most entertaining to watch.

Orlando is certainly firing on all cylinders and playing very well, but the effort put forth by Atlanta was truly embarassing.

It marks the second straight playoff sweep for Orlando, and their eight straight postseason wins sets a franchise record.

The team now advances to the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight year and will face the winner of Cleveland-Boston.
